About us
Cadela Carlota & Companhia - Associação de Proteção de Animais, its a non profit charity located in Lagos–Algarve founded in July 2008, in Lagos, Portugal, with the purpose of saving and giving shelter to the abandoned dogs and cats in the area of Lagos The Association works in partnership with the Lagos Municipal Services since January 2010.
Our shelters
Currently, the Cadela Carlota runs two shelters, one for dogs and another one for cats. The dog shelter, located in a rural area between Odiáxere and Mexilhoeira-Grande, houses around 80 dogs; the cat shelter, located in the Lagos city center, is home for around 60 cats.

Our charity shops
Cadela Carlota runs two charity shops, one in Lagos and the other in Almádena. The association relies heavily on the shop proceeds to cover its operating costs, and to cover among others, the animals’ food and veterinarian expenses. Simply put, by buying in one of our charity shops you are helping us improve the lives of our animals. We also accept used items to sell in the shops. For more bulky items, transport may be arranged.
Lagos shop : Rua Dr. António Guerreiro Tello, 10 Lagos (nearby Mercado de Santo Amaro) / Opening Hours: open Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm and from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, closed on the weekend
Almádena shop : Largo do Poço, 32 Almádena / Opening Hours: open Monday through Friday from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm and Saturday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, closed on Sunday
